Hair: Blond, curly Eyes: Green Born: October 15, c.1951 Education: Hogwarts, Slytherin House (app. 1963-1970) Familial History: Note: Skeeter is her maternal name taken to disassociate her from her father’s doings and arrest some years before. Her mother, Iseme Skeeter was the only daughter of a pureblood (or mostly-pureblood-with-perhaps-a-questionable-5xgreat-grandmother-or-something, depending on which cousin you asked) family that had slowly petered out and fallen on hard times. Originally from America, her grandfather (Randall Skeeter) had entered the Foreign Relations department and married a British witch, and chosen to live in northern Scotland. Iseme was born shortly thereafter. She was educated at Hogwarts, but left during her seventh year to wed Alphonse Strauss after a Christmas trip to Germany. This left her with strained relations with her own family, who decidedly did not approve that she left without graduating. Alphonse was the only remaining son of a pureblood family of Germany, he graduated from Durmstrang with top honors and awards and taught briefly after graduation. He wed Iseme (to the dismay of his parents, who had hoped for a more noble match). A brilliant (though regrettably twisted) mind, he turned to research after inheriting the family assets and moved his home to remote wastelands of Kamchaktya. There he immersed himself in experiments with the Dark Arts. When Rita was five, Alphonse was arrested for what was termed: "illegal and unorthodox" research into the Dark Arts. The family assets were subsequently seized by the government. Iseme took her daughter and returned to her mother's family in Scotland. Rita was educated at Hogwarts (Slytherin, c.1963-1970). There she excelled at transfiguration and charms, and among other things, mastered the spells necessary for Animagus transfiguration (though she never registered). Upon graduation, she began a career in the news media, and covered both the Voldemort trials and the Tri-Wizard Tournament. After a bargain made (rather grudgingly) with Miss Granger, she stopped writing for a year. While she is not a Voldmort supporter herself, she did go to school with many of the current Death Eaters and has no particular profit in being their enemy. Rita values gold, fame, and comfort; she remains somewhat apathetic to the war. And so long as she is not personally affected in an adverse manner, she remains ambivalent about the whole situation. Despite her desires for more material comforts, Rita is first of all a survivor. She is not particularly courageous and tends to think in regards to her own interests. While she can be friendly enough, she delights in stirring up trouble for those she doesn’t care for. She has a healthy respect of danger and acts accordingly. >.> Look, an RP journal!
